Meet Floyd

Floyd Brown was born in Ludington, Michigan and raised in Lake County. He is a 1984 Graduate of Baldwin High School. While in High school Floyd was active in sports, to include track and Field, Football and a member of the 1984 Regional championship basketball team. After graduation, Floyd attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College for a year and then joined the United States Air Force.

Floyd served 23 years in the United States Air Force and retired in 2008. While serving in the United States Air Force, Floyd continued his education and earned two associate degrees, Liberal Arts and Paralegal studies from the Community College of the Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and then earned his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of law in San Diego, California.

During his years of military career, Floyd was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, Sembach Air Base Germany, Wilford Hall Medical Center, Texas, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, McChord Air Force Base, Washington and retired at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada in 2008. Floyd is designated as a Desert storm Veteran due to his deployment during this military operation. Floyd was also deployed to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Towards the end of his military career, Floyd was assigned to the United Nations and was deployed to Zagreb, Croatia, with missions in Bosnia, Macedonia and other countries in the former Republic of Yugoslavia.  Floyd was a member of the Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corp (JAG).

As a result of his military service, Floyd was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Nato Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon and the Air Force Small Arms Expert Ribbon.

After his military service and graduation from Law school, Floyd joined the defense litigation law firm of Klinedinst, Fliehman & McKillop in San Diego, California, as a civil defense litigator. During this time, Floyd practiced in Real Estate law, employment and labor law, discrimination litigation and other practice areas. Floyd has obtained extensive trial experience while employed at Klinedinst as second chair, lengthy trials lasting five to eight weeks in duration. Floyd was also involved in a few first impression litigation matters. 

In 2017, Floyd accepted a position with the Federal Government as an Attorney Advisor for the Social Security Administration, which he retired from in 2024.

Floyd maintains his law license(s) in Michigan and California. Floyd has represented clients in Lake County, Kent County, Mecosta County and Isabella County.

Floyd has been actively involved in the Lake County community while living there and during his time abroad. He served on the Lake County Habitat for Humanity board until 2023, In 2023, he was appointed to the Michigan Military Appeals Tribunal.
